• Diesel Engine and its various components and their functions

• Batteries, types, components, functions and their critical maintenance

• Battery charging system/types of charging available and the right methods to be used.

• AVR and its important role in maintaining voltage output of the generator

• Governor and its role in maintaining the rpm of the engine

• Starter motor, its function and the preventive maintenance to be carried out

• AMF board, its components and the automatic operation

• Importance of engine support system (cooling, lubrication, starting and etc.)

• Maintenance of diesel engine (daily, weekly, monthly and yearly)

• Maintenance of generator (various components that need constant checking and maintenance)

• Importance of excitation system and the types available for AC generator

• Maintenance of AMF board and its components.

• Troubleshooting of emergency generating sets (both diesel engine and generator)

• Safety precautions and the guide lines to be observed while working on generating sets.

• Parallel operation of generators

• Requirements to be fulfilled for Parallel operation of gen.sets

• Rules, regulations and the competent control requirement by Suruhanjaya Tenaga.

• The impact on the environment in terms of pollution and emission if generator sets use fossil fuels such as diesel, oil and gas

The course will be conducted in the form of lectures and animated pictures of both engine and generators in detail.
