This conference arrived at a time when facilities management (FM) were in a state of flux. The global economic recession has brought FM under the spotlight as the main area of improvement in terms of cost-efficiency for every organisation. Considered as a non-core business activity, facility managers have been under pressure by their core business counterparts to improve the energy and overall cost-effectiveness of their assets.

Building assets became the stage, FM services became the props and the “experience‟ itself became the value-adding performance. With energy prices on the rise, it was important to update our participants’ skills and knowledge with new techniques and technologies.
